Our Mission:

To provide guidance, leadership, and opportunities for Atlanta's young adult males and females (ages 8 - 18) through mentoring.

Our focus is to strengthen youth in the areas of career development,  self-esteem, community involvement, cultural appreciation and value-oriented principles.

Primarily we provide a positive alternative for youth to become productive men and women.

Our hope is for each mentee to one day become a mentor and become a part of the "village" it takes to raise our children.

Another Way Out was established by businessman and community advocate, Samuel Tompkins, in 1992. Since then, AWO has matched mentors with mentees in order to provide an opportunity for youth to broaden their perception on the opportunities life has to offer. Working closely with qualified role models, male and female youth from the Atlanta Metropolitan area participate in a variety of projects including:

Traditional and non-traditional field trips and recreational opportunities.
Developing small business programs operated solely by AWO mentees.
Provide tutoring in various school subjects.
Teaching youth how to give back to their community by participating in        community projects.
On the job training.
Each mentoring year is culminated with a community festival, which     includes active participation by mentees.
